A Warm Welcome to St. George's CE Primary Academy, Newtown
It is with great pride that I welcome you to St. George's CE Primary Academy, Newtown, a school rooted in Christian values, where a nurturing environment and a commitment to excellence in learning are at the heart of all we do. Our dedicated staff, enthusiastic pupils, and supportive community work together to create a school where everyone feels safe, valued, and inspired to thrive.
I was delighted to become Headteacher of St. George's shortly before the start of the 2026/27 academic year. Alongside this role, I am also proud to serve as Headteacher of St. Michael's CE Primary Academy in Handsworth. It is a privilege to lead two schools that share a commitment to providing the very best education and opportunities for every child, whilst remaining firmly rooted in their own unique communities and traditions.
As Headteacher, I hold myself and my team to a simple yet powerful standard: Is it good enough for my own children? If the answer is no, we ask ourselves why and, more importantly, what we are going to do about it. The expectations we hold for our own children must be the same as those we uphold for every child and family at St. George's. This principle is non-negotiable and wholeheartedly embraced by all staff.
Our school community is guided by two core principles:
- Academic Excellence – We are committed to ensuring our children achieve the highest possible standards, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to unlock future opportunities. Education is a powerful tool that opens doors and enables children to fulfil their potential.
- Care and Belonging – We believe every child and family should feel loved, supported, and truly part of our school family. We strive to ensure that all who walk through our doors feel safe, happy, respected, and valued.
By the time our pupils leave St. George's and move on to secondary school, it is our ambition that they will have developed into articulate, respectful, ambitious, and compassionate young people. Academically, we aim to provide the strong foundation they need to realise their God-given potential and achieve their very best.
We recognise that children only get one chance at education. At St. George's, every member of our community, pupils, staff, governors, and parents, understands the importance of making that opportunity count.
